July eNewsletter
In this issue:

Dear Friends,

Here we are, in the middle of summer. With all of the rain and thunderstorms we've been having lately, it is a perfect time to contemplate your own internal weather. No matter if you feel bathed in brilliance and love, or quiet and reflective, in a period of grief and sadness, or stormy inside, the teachings and practice of yoga can offer great support. Summer is often a time of turning outward as we socialize at picnics and gatherings, but it is a great time to begin or renew a yoga practice, to turn inward for a period of time each day, checking in to see that you are living in alignment with your heart's desires. Below are my current offerings and teachings. If something resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you. If you are interested in more frequent updates, you can follow me on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. I wish you a relaxing and expansive July.

Namaste, Kendra

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
I am accepting clients for Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy sessions. Private, client-centered sessions last 1 1/2 hours and offer an opportunity to explore the connections between your physical body, emotions, mind, and spirit. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is based on the belief that patterns in our physical bodies reflect the patterns of behavior and thought we bring to our everyday lives, and offers an opportunity for insight, growth, healing, and relaxation. In June, I went to Vermont to assist a PRYT training. I was touched deeply, once again, by the potential for healing and transformation offered by this work. If you are intrigued, I would love to share it with you. Sessions are offered evenings and weekends. more. . .

Classes at Yoga Sanctuary

BodyStories Course
Yoga Sanctuary, located on the third floor of Thornes Marketplace in Northampton, MA is a wonderful Anusara studio. I have been personally taking classes at Yoga Sanctuary for the past four years, and I am now substitute teaching there regularly. They have a diversity of offerings, with a little something for everyone. I encourage you to check out their class schedule. You can also view a list of classes that I'll be subbing this next month.

BodyStories Course | September-October 2009

BodyStories Course
This course brings together the two things I know best: media education and yoga. I developed this course to push back against the media and cultural messages that tell us that our value is determined by our appearance. I believe the best way to resist these messages is to learn to think critically about them and to use embodied practices, such as yoga, to develop a more connected and integrated relationship with ourselves. I have received requests to offer this course online, as well as in a half-day format. Thank you for this feedback! I am working on designing it in both of these incarnations and will let you know when they are available. I also plan to offer the course in the original 6-week version in the fall. Online registration will be available soon. In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you are interested. Learn more. . .

Now Available: Get It Om™ Travel Mugs

Get It Om Travel Mugs

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking for a new travel mug, so I had my husband make me one with my favorite Get It Om™ design on it. He added a few others, too. View the Get It Om™ travel mugs here.

Delicious Summer Recipe: Kale Chips

Recipe: Kale Chips
A friend shared this recipe with me a couple of years ago. It's easy, nutritious, and really tasty! Even if you don't normally like kale, you might be pleasantly surprised to find you like these. I like to eat kale chips in place of popcorn when watching a movie. Give it a try and see what you think!

Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Wash and pat dry a bunch of kale. Chop into 2-3 inch pieces and put into a large bowl. Add 1-2 TBSP of olive oil and 1-2 tsp of sea salt, depending on your taste preferences. Spread the kale on a lightly oiled cookie sheet. Once the oven is pre-heated, cook for 15 minutes. Check to see how it is coming. The kale should be sizzling and getting dry and crispy. If it is not crisping quite yet, turn the oven up to 400 degrees and put it in for another 5 minutes. Baking time varies depending on the size of the kale pieces and the desired crispiness. Enjoy!
